Potty Training

Yes the milestone is here and I have been thinking about potty training for my 18 months old toddler. This has been one of the hot topics between my circle of mums and most of us will actually wait for summer as it tends to be easier when toddlers are not wearing a lot of clothes (for the little accidents during the training). We all also agree that we are starting straight from the big toilet as it avoids to have another stage where you have to switch from the little potty to the big toilet.

Choosing the potty is one of my to do list now. I have looked around and I am still not sure with which one I should go for. You have 5 types of potties/toilet seats:

1. The one piece potty chair
2. The potty with inner potty
3. The potty with stepstool
4. the travel potty seat
5. The potty seat

So far I have seen the most reviewed and recommended are:
BabyBjorn Potty Chair (potty with inner potty and also the standard potties)
The Cushie Traveller potty seat (travel potty seat)
Prince Lionheart pottyPOD™ (potty with inner potty)

Bumbo Toilet Trainer: This is one of my favorites at first but when I read one review of this product, I have been put off since the material can split in two. But on the other hand, since my little A is used to the bumbo seat and feel so comfortable in there, I have not made up my mind.

Most of the potties mentioned above are available on Kiddicare.com (type potty training in the search box).

Here is a reminder on how to choose the right potty:
1- choose the potty with your toddler as it has to be as comfortable as possible. If it is cheaper online, you can go to the shop first and then order it online.
2- a step stool will be also useful in order to reach the toilet if you have the toilet seat (toilet ring)
3- if you choose a toilet seat/toilet ring, ensure that the ring is small enough in order to fit the toddler in.
4- if you decide to buy a potty training, check how easy it is to clean or empty it and look for the anti-spillage options
5- consider the toy that helps potty training, this needs to be as fun as possible

My Potty Friend

Fisher-Price My Potty Friend

With my potty friend (manufactured by Fisher Price), the toddler will be able to learn how to flush the toilet and he can also be trained with the easy-clean removable bowl. This is suitable from 18 months. You can buy this toy now at amazon for £29.49. I am thinking about buying this as it is another way to start training my little star and in a fun way with less pressure involved since this potty looks more like a toy.
